Everything about Whitefield Maine totally explained

Whitefield is a town in Lincoln County, Maine, United States. The population was 2,273 at the 2000 census. Whitefield gets its name from the celebrated British evangelist George Whitefield, who inspired the colonists before the town was settled in 1770, mainly by Irish Catholics. They remembered him when incorporation came in 1809.

Geography

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 47.5 square miles (123.1 km²), of which, 46.8 square miles (121.3 km²) of it's land and 0.7 square miles (1.8 km²) of it (1.47%) is water.

Emergency Response

There are currently three fire stations in Whitefield: North Whitefield, Coopers Mills, and Kings Mills. The stations are run by volunteer members. The three stations and the town of Whitefield are moving towards consolidating the stations into one. The consolidation would greatly improve the financial situation as well as promote unity in the town of Whitefield.
